More about rosacea
What is rosacea?
Rosacea is a facial skin condition that causes redness, veins (couperose), bumps/pimples, dry skin, and a coarse skin texture. This skin condition often affects the cheeks and nose, and in some cases, you can experience eye irritation. The redness can flare up occasionally and feel uncomfortable.
How does rosacea develop?
Unfortunately, the exact cause is still unknown. Abnormalities in the superficial blood vessels often trigger the redness, and sun damage and other external factors may also play a role. For example, spicy food, alcohol consumption, sunbathing, sauna use, intense exercise, stress, and certain medications (ACE inhibitors, nitrates, and corticosteroids) can trigger or even worsen rosacea symptoms.
Treating rosacea
What can you do yourself? For a skin condition like rosacea, a gentle skincare routine is important. Many products containing ingredients like vitamin C and E, niacinamide, and licorice root extract have positive effects on rosacea. In addition, there are various treatments you can undergo with one of our skin therapists. For example, a peel or microneedling treatment is effective in reducing rosacea symptoms, and laser therapy can also be used.

Skin scan and intake
During the initial consultation, the nature of your complaint will be discussed with the practitioner so that a personalized treatment plan can be created. A good treatment plan begins with a skin analysis using the Observ520 skin scanner. The skin therapist can provide a detailed analysis of the deeper layers of the skin. You will also receive advice on products to use at home to support and optimize the treatment. The scan results are stored and compared so we can monitor the progress of the treatment.
Would you like to know your skin type, or do you have a specific indication or question? Then schedule a free, no-obligation consultation with one of our skin therapists.
