What is an EMB blood test?

The treatment

The EMB test is a blood test performed by naturopathic therapists to gain insight into the body's health. "EMB" stands for "Energetic Morphological Blood Test."

The EMB test combines aspects of conventional and complementary medicine and can be used to investigate a wide range of health problems, such as digestive problems, hormonal imbalances, allergies and nutrient deficiencies.

During the test, a small amount of blood is drawn and examined for various parameters, including the shape and size of the red blood cells, the presence of inflammation, and the functional status of the organs. This information can be used to determine which therapies or lifestyle changes are most effective in improving health and preventing disease.

The EMB test is based on the principles of traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurveda, both of which take a holistic approach to health and disease. The idea behind the EMB test is that the body's health can be reflected in the morphology (shape and size) of red blood cells.

The test can also be used to identify nutrient deficiencies and food intolerances. Using this information, recommendations can be made for dietary adjustments or supplementation to provide the body with the nutrients it needs for optimal health.

It's important to note that the EMB test cannot diagnose a specific medical condition. If you have any concerns about your health or are experiencing any symptoms, it's always best to consult a qualified physician for a complete medical evaluation and diagnosis.

Indications

The EMB test can be used to investigate a wide range of health conditions, including:

  1. Digestive problems, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), stomach ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and other gastrointestinal disorders.
  2. Hormonal imbalances such as thyroid problems, menstrual problems, premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and menopausal symptoms.
  3. Allergies and intolerances, such as food allergies, lactose intolerance, gluten intolerance and other food intolerances.
  4. Nutrient deficiencies, such as iron deficiency, vitamin D deficiency, vitamin B12 deficiency, and other deficiencies of essential nutrients.
  5. Chronic fatigue, stress, burnout and other stress-related problems.
  6. Inflammatory diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, multiple sclerosis (MS), and other autoimmune diseases.

The purpose of the EMB test is to gain insight into the health of the body as a whole, not just to look at specific symptoms or conditions. This also allows the test to be used as a preventative measure to detect and prevent health problems early.

Contraindications

There are no absolute contraindications to the EMB test, as it is non-invasive and safe. However, there are some situations where the test may not be suitable or where additional measures are required, such as:

  1. If you are taking blood-thinning medications, this may increase your risk of bruising or bleeding after the blood draw. Your doctor may advise you to stop taking these medications before the test.
  2. If you have a blood disorder, such as hemophilia or sickle cell anemia, taking a blood sample may require extra caution and expertise.
  3. If you are pregnant, you should consult your doctor before having the test, as some aspects of the test may not be suitable for pregnant women.
  4. If you have an infectious disease, the EMB test result may be inaccurate. Therefore, it is recommended that you wait until you have fully recovered before undergoing the test.

In general, the EMB test is safe and suitable for most people, but it is always wise to consult your doctor or a qualified healthcare provider before undergoing the test, especially if you have specific medical conditions or are taking medications.
